HUDSON — The Hudson Board of Health opened a public hearing on a proposal to increase the Hudson Transfer Station's daily waste processing capacity from 350 to 850 tons. Hearing Officer Michelle O'Brien presided with Board Chair Matthew C. Gallen, Members Allyson O'Malley and Rebecca Stewart-Owen present.
Proponent witness Steven Wright, a civil engineer from Sanborn Head, testified the relocated facility would sit approximately 1,870 feet from Cox Street residences, compared to 350 feet currently, and would expand recycling to 77 tons daily, potentially adding 25 truck trips per day. Wright confirmed that only about 60 tons of the 850-ton capacity would originate from Hudson. The Board must issue a decision by April 24 under state solid waste regulations.
The hearing continues March 12 with public comment.
