HUDSON — The Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously to sponsor a warrant article that would clarify the zoning bylaws' rules for routine repairs to nonconforming residential structures. Director of Planning and Community Development Kristina Johnson, AICP, told the board that unclear language around nonconformities has created excessive special permit petitions for routine work on single-family lots. The amendment would allow the Building Commissioner to grant permits for basic renovations without the special permit process.
The board voted 5-0 to sponsor the article. The board also continued petition ZAA-1, an administrative appeal regarding 0 Washington St, to September 10, 2026.
