HUDSON — Transfer station hearing examines impacts of proposed capacity expansion. The Board of Health continued a public hearing on a minor modification application for the Hudson transfer station, hearing testimony on traffic, air quality, odor, and health concerns. Traffic expert Scott Thornton addressed truck volumes and routing, noting corrected passenger vehicle data and recycling traffic added after initial study.
Environmental engineer AJ Jablonowski testified that air quality and odor modeling showed no danger to public health. Community members, including parents of students at an adjacent school, testified about concerns regarding truck traffic during school hours, air quality impacts, asthma risks, and rodent observations. Hearing Officer Michelle O'Brien indicated additional witness testimony remains outstanding and additional hearing dates will be required.
