Lake Boon Commission · Meeting of March 18, 2026
HUDSON — Lake Boon Commission bans new docks in Basin 4 to protect fragile ecosystem. The commission voted 3-0 to prohibit docks, moorings, anchoring systems, and similar structures in the lake's shallowest basin, averaging two to three feet deep, which faces elevated PFAS contamination from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Commission Chairman Dan Tereau, Commissioner Dan Barstow, and Commissioner Conray Wharff cited safety and environmental risks while grandfathering existing docks lawfully permitted as of adoption.
Lakemont development residents objected that the prohibition unfairly targeted new homeowners while older properties retained dock rights, but the commission concluded cumulative dock and boat traffic posed unacceptable health and environmental risks to the entire lake system.
