Hudson DPW begins annual hydrant flushing
The Hudson Department of Public Works has begun its 2026 hydrant flushing program, with crews working from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on streets across town through the next few weeks.
The Town of Hudson announced Oct. 16 that the Department of Public Works has begun its annual hydrant flushing program.
Crews will be out between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m., and the work is expected to continue for a few weeks until the entire town has been covered.
On the first day, Oct. 16, crews worked on more than two dozen streets, including Vinal Street, Knott's Street, Main Street to Cox Street on Manning Street, Cox Street between Stratton Road and Manning Street, High Street, Elm Street, Cedar Street, Lake Shore Drive, Birchwood Road, Broad Street between South Street and Wheeler Road, and Wheeler Road, among others.
The town said residents may notice discolored water during flushing. Officials said the discoloration comes from mineral sediment and does not pose a health risk. Residents experiencing discolored water should run all cold-water faucets in their home for about 10 minutes until the water runs clear.
Residents may also experience low water pressure while flushing is underway in their area. The town said this effect is short-term and will end once flushing in that location is complete.
The town thanked residents for their patience during the work.
