The Hudson Library & Historical Society announced its schedule of programs for November, built around a "Tour of Scandinavia" theme for the month.

On Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., the library will stream "Northern Light: Scandinavian Treasures from the Cleveland Museum of Art," a one-time presentation on Scandinavian art that will not be recorded.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., historian and BBC broadcaster Eleanor Barraclough, author of "Embers of the Hands: Hidden Histories of the Viking Age," will speak about life in the Nordic world during the Viking Age.

Later that day, Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., Ann LoParo of Annie's Signature Sweets will lead a cooking demonstration on making a cardamom cake, described as a dessert popular throughout Scandinavia.

On Sunday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m., the ensemble OPUS 216 will perform "Music of Scandinavia," a program the library says showcases Nordic fiddle tunes, traditional songs and contemporary works inspired by the region.

The library's November calendar also includes other programs. On Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., the duo Fire & Grace, guitarist William Coulter and violinist Edwin Huizinga, will perform a concert blending classical, Celtic, folk and tango influences. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m., the library will offer an introductory class on Microsoft Excel covering navigating workbooks, entering data, basic formatting and introductory formulas, intended for those with little or no experience using the program.

Residents can view the full November newsletter and register for events through the library's website.
